What is the Detailed Advice Service?
The Detailed Advice Service is a structured, expert-led consultation tailored to your circumstances. Whether you are applying for a family or work visa, considering settlement or naturalisation, or facing a specific immigration issue, your adviser helps you understand your position and set out the most appropriate next steps.
All advice is delivered by professionals authorised and regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), so it is legally accurate and grounded in the current Immigration Rules.
What a session covers
Each session is comprehensive, practical and aligned with current immigration law. In your session, your adviser will:
- Review your immigration history and current circumstances
- Assess your eligibility under the relevant immigration categories
- Identify the most appropriate visa or settlement route
- Give document and evidence guidance to Home Office (UKVI) standards
- Explain the application process and the timelines involved
- Outline the government fees and submission deadlines that apply
- Discuss the strengths, risks and potential challenges honestly
- Deliver a structured action plan to move forward with confidence
- Answer your specific questions and concerns
- Provide follow-up support for any immediate clarifications
It is especially useful if you are at the start of an application, or facing a complex or time-sensitive issue where reliable, actionable advice matters most.
How it works
-
Book and pay for your session
Use the secure booking form to share your basic details and pay for your advice session. An on-screen confirmation tells you we have received your instruction.
-
Confirm your time and share your details
A dedicated caseworker contacts you within 24 hours to schedule your consultation at a convenient time. Beforehand, you are invited to share relevant background and a list of your questions, so the discussion stays focused.
-
Attend your consultation and get clear advice
Your adviser assesses your case, answers your questions in depth, and explains your best options. A session usually lasts 30 minutes and ends with a clear action plan.
Optional further support. If you need more help afterwards, your adviser can explain how our Application Checking and Representation services work, so you can continue with our support.
What does immigration advice cost?
Immigration advice is usually priced in two ways: a one-off advice session, and full representation if you instruct an adviser to prepare your application. Our Detailed Advice Service is a fixed fee from £150 for a 30-minute consultation, and that fee is credited toward representation if you go on to instruct us.
For context, these are the typical ranges across the UK market, as a general guide (as of 2026):
| What you need | Typical UK cost | Whytecroft Ford |
|---|---|---|
| Initial advice session / consultation | £100 to £400 | Fixed fee from £150 |
| Full application (representation) | £1,000 to £7,000+ | Quoted per case, up front |
We set our fees out clearly before you commit, so there are no surprises. Government fees, such as the Home Office application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge, are separate and paid to the Home Office.

Immigration advice: frequently asked questions
How much does the advice session cost and when do I pay?
The Detailed Advice Service is a fixed fee from £150 for a 30-minute session, paid at the time of booking. There are no hidden charges.
How much does an immigration adviser cost in the UK?
It varies with the work. A one-off advice session or initial consultation typically costs between £100 and £400, while full representation for an application usually ranges from around £1,000 to £7,000 or more, depending on the route and complexity. Our advice session is a fixed fee from £150, and we quote representation per case before you commit.
Is it worth using an immigration adviser?
Often, yes, especially if you are unsure of your eligibility, applying for the first time, have a complex situation, or a previous application was refused. Advice, even a single session, can prevent a costly refusal on a non-refundable Home Office fee.
What does an immigration adviser do?
A regulated immigration adviser assesses your eligibility, identifies the right visa or settlement route, guides your documents and evidence, and can prepare and submit the application for you. In the UK, only advisers regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority, or another approved regulator, can give this advice.
Can I get free immigration advice?
Some organisations offer free immigration advice, including Citizens Advice and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, and GOV.UK lists registered advisers. Free services can be limited in scope or have long waits, so a paid session is often worth it when you need tailored, in-depth advice quickly.
Can I get immigration advice online?
Yes. Our advice sessions are held remotely by Zoom or WhatsApp call, so you can get advice from anywhere in the UK or abroad, at a time that suits you.
Can you assess my eligibility for a specific visa?
Yes. During the session we review your circumstances against the current Immigration Rules and tell you where you stand and what your best route is.
Can I ask follow-up questions after my session?
Yes. You can email follow-up questions within 7 days of your session. A genuinely new matter may need a further session.
Can I upgrade to full representation?
Yes. If you instruct us to represent you, the advice session fee is credited toward that service.
Is the advice confidential and regulated?
Yes. Your adviser is authorised and regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority, and everything you share is treated in strict confidence.
What should I share before the session?
A short list of your questions and concerns, plus relevant background about your immigration history and current status.
